There is a lot of construction going on in MetroTech Center!
The thing that struck me most about this neighborhood is the combination of old and new everywhere you look…
…a lot of which is positively picturesque!
By far the most striking example of the old coexisting with the new is these four 19th Century houses set against the backdrop of the highrises that have grown up all around them. (You can learn a bit more about these houses here.)
It was quite a surprise to come around the corner and find this little scene, as you can imagine! Talk about fascinating incongruity!
Here are some miscellaneous photos from the rest of my exploration. I found myself focusing a lot on cool architectural details that caught my eye. And the sun was at a particularly helpful angle that day.
